May Stamp Club Make 'n Take

Here is the Make 'n Take from yesterday's Stamp Club.  The Palm Tree is from Tropical Party Stamp Set.  Card stock is Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand, and Old Olive.  We also used the new Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with the Big Shot.  This is a fun embossing folder to use...seems to actually change the texture of the card stock itself.  We sponged the color on the Whisper White card stock to give it a little something...something. A little linen thread, brads and a simple happy birthday and viola' a great little card.   Tropical Party and the embossing folder are in the Summer Mini catalog.  Contact me at dsarkins2@comcast.net if you do not have a copy and I'll be happy to slip one into the mail for you.

Distressing Tips

As most of you know, I love vintage and collage and I am so happy to see it coming back in style.  Here are a view tips to create your distressing effect.

The main idea is to make your card, scrapbook page or whatever you are working on to look old and worn...as if you just pulled it out of the attic or an old trunk. 

These ideas are not mine nor are they new but they are 'oldies but goodies'...okay, I couldn't resist!

• Tearing, ripping or sanding cardstock or paper
• Peel back cardstock, cardboard, or even coffe sleeve holders
• Use a distressing tool...or your fingernail, a bone folder or whatever is handy
• Sponging, edges and really everywhere and anywhere
• Choose a great stamp set that can bring out creativity...Elements of Style is a great choice (Summer Mini)
• Inking; several techniques, direct to paper (one of my newest favs) sponging, spritzing
• Layering so that different layers show through...like old wallpaper
• Old books, dictionaries, maps, sheet music anything to add interest...even old dress patterns

Even if you have never been a fan, give it a shot..let your imagination just flow...there is no wrong to vintage!

1st Annual Stampinduo's You Might Be Psychic Contest

I CASED this idea directly from Bab Mullikin...thought it might be fun for us too!  The Last Chance List of stamp sets will be posted on June 1st.  So simply peruse the Idea Book & Catalog and choose twelve (12) stamp sets that you think will retire on June 1st.  (Exclude all hostess sets.)  Email your list to:  dsarkins2@comcast.net before midnight on May 30th.  We'll place your name in a drawing and you can select any stamp set (hostess sets excluded) from either the Summer Mini Catalog or the New 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog that will be out July 1st.  In the case of a tie, the earliest entry will be the winner.  The winner will be notified June 2nd and the prize will be shipped in July.  Good Luck! Very Odd Indeed

Okay, I just visited our www.stampinduo.stampinup.net website and discovered something quite interesting. There is a blog on it...obviously, no contents as I've been updating daily on this blog.

I say very odd because when I called SU a couple of months ago, they told me we would not be able to have a customer/contact blog on our website. I'm sooo confused :-) Perhaps they just added that feature and I failed to notice.

I could not figure out why we wouldn't. Hummm, I'd say further exploration required.... more to come!

Backorders on Retiring Colors

With the recent Color Renovation announcement, Stampin' Up has experienced a "spike" - much greater than anticipated- in demand for some retiring colors.

I haven't received April's Club order yet, hopefully, it was shipped before the shortages. More info as it becomes available.

Breakfast

Annually, the Corporate Team at Stampin' Up get together early and prepare breakfast for the other team members. How fun?! I'll take my eggs over easy please.
